Hyoam Seowon is a Confucian academy in rural Nonsan, built to honour the scholar Kang Eung-jeong. The original academy was destroyed during the Japanese invasions of Korea and was rebuilt on its present site in 1713.
It is quieter than nearby Donam Seowon, but it gives a useful look at the scholarly landscape that shaped this part of Chungcheong. Come for the history and the calm setting rather than for a large museum-style visit.
