Banpo Bridge Rainbow Fountain

The Banpo Bridge fountain shoots water from nozzles mounted along both sides of the bridge in arching curtains that fall to the Han River below. The display runs at scheduled times on spring and summer evenings, with coloured LED lighting creating a theatrical effect after dark. The Banpo Hangang Park on the south bank of the river provides good viewing positions, and the surrounding riverside parks fill with people bringing food and drink on warm evenings.

The fountain is part of the broader Han River parks system — a network of riverside parks along the Han that serve as Seoul's outdoor living room. Cycling paths, beach volleyball courts, outdoor cinema, and convenience stores are scattered throughout the parks, and the area gets very busy on summer weekends.

A story
When it was installed in 2009, the Banpo Bridge fountain was certified by Guinness World Records as the world's longest bridge fountain, with 380 nozzles extending 570 metres along both sides of the bridge. The display runs at regular intervals in summer evenings, with the water illuminated in changing patterns of colour against the dark surface of the Han River.
