Seongsu

Seongsu-dong, on the north bank of the Han River east of the centre, is Seoul's current creative district — the city's equivalent of Shoreditch or the Marais at a comparable moment in their gentrification arc. Former industrial buildings and garment factories have been converted into design studios, independent cafes, concept stores, and restaurants. The streets retain their gritty industrial character while filling with a young, design-conscious crowd.

The neighbourhood is particularly known for its third-wave coffee scene: small specialty roasters and independent cafes occupy converted warehouses and former shoe factories. The weekend pop-up culture is active, with temporary exhibitions and concept stores appearing and disappearing. It's at its most interesting on weekends from noon to evening. Seongsu Station (Line 2) is the most convenient access point.
