Ravana Cave

Cliffside cave linked to the Ramayana, above Ravana Falls

A natural cave set high in the cliff above Ravana Falls, reached by a steep flight of around 700 steps from the road. Local tradition holds that the demon king Ravana hid the kidnapped Princess Sita here, and the cave still draws Hindu pilgrims as well as walkers. The interior is shallow — a single chamber with a small shrine — but the climb is the point and the view over the valley from the entrance is excellent.

Allow about an hour for the round trip and bring water; the steps are tiring in the heat. Best combined with a stop at Ravana Falls below.
