Hikkaduwa sits on the coastal railway and the A2 road between Colombo and Galle. Trains are the most atmospheric way to arrive, though buses are frequent and faster services run along the coast road.
From Galle, a tuk-tuk or local bus is straightforward. Inside Hikkaduwa, most beach areas are walkable along the main road, but traffic is constant, so short tuk-tuk hops are often worth it after dark.
