Dolukanda is a rocky hill and cave area north of Kurunegala, reached by marked hiking trails through forest and scrub. The climb takes real effort, but the summit gives wide views across the plains and the chance to explore a quieter hill site than the rocks in town.
Start early, carry enough water, and use a map or GPS track, especially if you take the steeper western route. The eastern trail is easier to follow, while the upper rock and cave area rewards travellers who came prepared for a half-day hike.
