About 50 km north of Krabi Town, the Ao Luk district holds some of the most spectacular cave scenery in the province. The Tham Lod sea caves — Tham Lod Neua and Tham Lod Tai — are long, low limestone tunnels that you can paddle through at low tide in a sea kayak, dripping with stalactites and emerging into hidden mangrove lagoons on the other side. Nearby Tham Phi Hua To holds prehistoric cave paintings estimated to be 3,000 years old. The easiest way to visit is on one of the guided kayak tours run daily from Krabi and Ao Nang.
