Ko Rawi

An uninhabited island west of Adang with a fine empty beach and good snorkelling on the offshore reefs.

Ko Rawi is the largest island west of Lipe — heavily forested, uninhabited apart from a small park ranger station, and ringed by some of the clearest water in the archipelago. The main beach on the south side is wide and almost always empty. Most boat trips out of Ko Lipe stop here for an hour on their snorkel-tour itineraries.

The coral around Ko Rawi's offshore rocks is in better shape than around Lipe and the reef fish are abundant. Bring snorkel gear from Lipe — there is nothing for rent or sale on the island. There are no facilities of any kind, so day-trippers come with packed lunches arranged by their boats. The combination of empty beach, mature forest, and good underwater visibility makes it the prettiest of the small islands.
