The Rose Garden Cultural Centre, known in Thai as Suan Sam Phran, is a large riverside resort and cultural park about 30 kilometres west of Bangkok and close to Nakhon Pathom town. The main draw is a daily performance programme covering classical Thai dance and music, Muay Thai boxing, an elephant show, and a staged monk ordination — a compressed introduction to several aspects of Thai culture in about 90 minutes. The show is openly theatrical but competently done.
The grounds are planted with roses and tropical flowering shrubs around the main performance arena, and there is a riverside walk along the Tha Chin River that is pleasant in the early morning. A floating market operates on the river on weekends. The Rose Garden is most often visited as part of a Bangkok day tour that combines it with the chedi, and it is well set up for coach groups, which makes it a somewhat different experience from visiting independently.
