Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan is Nakhon Si Thammarat's defining sight and one of the most important temples in southern Thailand. Its tall white chedi is said to hold a relic of the Buddha, and the compound around it is dense with smaller stupas, galleries, guardian figures, and working temple life.
Come early or late in the day if you can. The temple is not just architecture; it is where the city gathers for merit-making, festivals, and the rituals that keep Nakhon feeling older than its traffic and shopfronts.
