Surin's main reason to shop is silk. The province produces some of Thailand's finest mat-mee ikat silk, and the city is a better place to buy it than Bangkok, where the same cloth is marked up significantly. The weekend walking street market and a few dedicated weaving shops around the central market are the best starting points.
