This lakeside Chinese shrine on the eastern edge of the provincial centre is dedicated to Pu and Ya, a grandfather and grandmother deity pair revered in Thai-Chinese communities across Isan. Locals come to ask for help with personal problems and hardships, leaving offerings of incense, fruit, and model houses. The atmosphere is busy and unpretentious — very different from the grander Chinese temples of Bangkok — and the site gives a good sense of the Chinese-Thai culture that shapes daily life in Udon Thani's market district.
