Wat Phra That Chae Haeng

Sacred hilltop stupa across the Nan River, with a gilded Lanna chedi above the valley.

Wat Phra That Chae Haeng is Nan Province's most revered temple, set on a low hill east of the river. Its tall gilded chedi dates the site to the 14th century and is one of the classic Lanna silhouettes of the region.

The temple is a short ride from the old town and gives a different angle on Nan: quieter, more devotional, and still closely tied to local identity rather than visitor traffic.
