The Red Minaret, or Eğri Minare, dates from the early 14th century. Its red-brick shaft leans a little over three degrees, apparently from old subsidence, and the upper section is now braced to keep the tilt stable.
It is not Pisa, and it does not need to be. The minaret's odd angle, riverside setting, and Seljuk brickwork make it one of Aksaray's most memorable central sights.
