Atatürk House in Balıkesir is a replica of the Thessaloniki house where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was born. Opened in 2021, it uses the familiar domestic setting to tell parts of the story of the Turkish War of Independence.
It is a modest museum, but worthwhile if you are already exploring Balıkesir's central sights. Pair it with the Kuva-yi Milliye Museum for a fuller picture of the city's place in early republican history.
