The Kuva-yi Milliye Museum occupies a central mansion that became a headquarters for Balıkesir's nationalist resistance after Greek forces landed at Izmir in 1919. The ground floor focuses on the local organizers, congress decisions, photographs, and personal objects from the War of Independence period.
The upstairs collection adds archaeological and ethnographic material from the wider Balıkesir region. It is a small museum, but it gives the city a clearer story than the modern streets outside might suggest.
