The Asclepion was Pergamon's healing sanctuary, dedicated to Asclepius and associated with ritual, water, sleep, diagnosis, and medicine. It is easier to read than parts of the Acropolis because the complex sits on gentler ground.
Look for the sacred way, theatre, colonnades, pools, and the circular treatment building. It is also tied to Galen, the physician whose influence ran through medicine for centuries.
