Burdur Museum

Archaeology museum with important finds from Sagalassos and the wider Lakes District.

Burdur Museum is the town's strongest cultural sight. Its collection draws from the wider Lakes District, with the most important material coming from Sagalassos, the Pisidian city high in the mountains above Ağlasun. Statues, sarcophagi, inscriptions, and everyday objects give a clear sense of how rich the region was in the Roman and Byzantine periods.

The museum is also a good argument for stopping in Burdur before or after visiting the ruins. Sagalassos itself is scattered across a steep site; seeing the finds here helps make the ancient city easier to read.
