Çankırı Salt Cave is the reason most travelers should consider the detour. The old rock-salt mine has broad underground galleries, pale salt walls, and a cool, dry atmosphere that feels far removed from the Anatolian plateau outside.
Parts of the mine have been cleaned, lit, and opened as an underground visitor site. It is outside the city centre, so arrange transport before you go.
