Eski Datça is the old village a few kilometres inland from the modern waterfront. It is the postcard version of the peninsula: cube-like stone houses, cobbled lanes, bougainvillea, small galleries, and cafe tables tucked into shaded corners.
It is polished in places, but still worth the detour, especially in the early morning or evening when the heat drops. Come for a short wander rather than a checklist.
