İğneada Floodplain Forests National Park

Rare Black Sea floodplain forest of lakes, marshes, dunes, and coastal woods.

İğneada Floodplain Forests National Park protects one of Turkey's rare longoz, or floodplain forest, ecosystems along the Black Sea near the Bulgarian border. Lakes, marshes, dunes, and wet woodland sit close together, making it feel very different from the dry Mediterranean image many travellers have of Turkey.

The park is easiest to combine with İğneada, but Demirköy is the inland base for the wider district. Come for walking, birdlife, lake edges, and the strange pleasure of seeing forest and sea almost meet.
