Rumkale is a ruined fortress on a rocky headland where a side gorge meets the flooded Euphrates. Its position is superb: steep cliffs, green water, and broken walls rising above the lake.
Access is normally by boat from Halfeti. The fortress has Byzantine, Armenian, and Islamic layers, but even without much interpretation it is one of the strongest sights in the area.
