Lefke Gate

Eastern city gate with preserved walls and a stretch of Roman aqueduct just outside town.

Lefke Gate is the eastern exit from old Iznik, on the road toward Osmaneli. The gate and adjoining wall are well preserved, and just outside are remains of a Roman aqueduct.

It is worth the short walk from the centre because it shows Iznik as a planned walled city, not just a cluster of separate monuments.
