Çini Museum

The Çini Museum is the obvious place to start if Kütahya's tile reputation is what brought you here. It occupies the former imaret, or soup kitchen, of the Great Mosque complex, so the building has its own weight even before you look at the displays.

The collection mixes older pieces with modern ceramic work. Some visitors may find the contemporary material less romantic than the medieval fragments, but the museum explains why tile-making is still a living trade in Kütahya rather than just a museum label.
