Manisa Mevlevihanesi was built in 1368 for the Mevlevi order, the Sufi brotherhood known in the West for whirling dervishes. The restored building now works as a small museum, with the plain timber and stone rooms giving a better sense of Ottoman spiritual life than a larger, more polished display might.
It sits above the old centre, close enough to combine with the castle slope and the road towards Mount Sipylus.
