The Weeping Rock is a strange little Manisa classic: a rock face on the south edge of town that resembles a human profile, with groundwater seeping from its "eyes." Local tradition identifies it with Niobe, the proud mother whose children were killed by the gods and who was turned to stone by grief.
It is not grand in itself, but it ties the modern city to the old mythic landscape of Sipylus. Visit it on the way up towards the mountain rather than as a stand-alone sight.
