Great Mosque of Muğla

Fourteenth-century mosque from the Menteşe beylik, restored with a later Ottoman look.

The Great Mosque of Muğla, or Ulu Camii, dates to 1344 and the Beys of Menteşe. Much of what you see now reflects later restoration, especially the 19th-century appearance, but the building still anchors the old centre.

It is worth visiting as part of a circuit through the market lanes rather than as a stand-alone monument.
