Sungur Bey Mosque was built in 1335, when Niğde sat within the Ilkhanid world. It is smaller than the famous monuments of Konya or Sivas, but the masonry and portals are first-rate.
Look especially at the carved northern entrance. The mosque is one of the buildings that makes Niğde feel older and more layered than its modern streets first suggest.
