Balatlar Church is a rough but evocative Byzantine church ruin in Sinop. The site is fragmentary, but the chapel vault still has a roof and surviving frescoes, which make it more rewarding than the plain exterior first suggests.
It is best treated as a short historic stop while exploring central Sinop, especially if you are already visiting the old walls, harbour, and fortress prison.
