The Ataturk and Congress Museum occupies the former high school where Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and the Representative Committee met during the Sivas Congress in September 1919. For Turkish visitors it is one of the symbolic buildings of the War of Independence, and it gives Sivas a national story beyond its Seljuk monuments.
The displays cover the congress, local ethnography, and archaeology. The building itself, with its late Ottoman school architecture and central role in 1919, is the main reason to visit.
