Tunnel Site Canteen

The canteen at Ben Dinh is a practical stop rather than a culinary destination. Simple Vietnamese rice and noodle dishes are served cafeteria-style; the food is fine and the prices reasonable. It keeps you going if you have been underground all morning.

The menu includes cassava and peanuts alongside the standard dishes — a deliberate novelty. These were staples for fighters living in the tunnels, who had little else to eat during the years of heaviest American bombardment. Eating them above ground in the sunshine is a mild gesture toward understanding what life below looked like.

Ben Duoc has similar basic facilities on site.
