Firing Range

Both Ben Dinh and Ben Duoc have a firing range where visitors can fire period weapons — AK-47s, M16s, M60 machine guns, and others — for a fee. Ammunition is sold in rounds; ten rounds of AK-47 costs around 50,000–70,000 VND, which is expensive by Vietnamese standards.

The ranges are popular with some visitors, particularly those who have never handled firearms. They are entirely optional: the queues are usually visible from a distance, the noise is unmistakable, and it is straightforward to walk past without stopping. Some visitors find the experience jarring given the context — a site memorialising the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Others find it unremarkable.

There is no obligation to participate. The rest of both sites is fully accessible without visiting the range.
