Vinh sits on Vietnam's main north-south transport corridor and is well connected in both directions. The Reunification Express trains stop here, with journey times of approximately 6–8 hours to Hanoi and 11–12 hours to Danang. Vinh railway station is centrally located and well-served by both sleeper and day trains.
Vinh International Airport has domestic flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, operated by Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, and Bamboo Airways. Buses from Vinh to Hanoi (about 5 hours) and southward are frequent and inexpensive. Open-tour bus services connecting Hanoi and Hoi An stop at Vinh as a regular waypoint.
