Abercrombie House is Bathurst's grandest domestic building, an 1870s mansion built for the Stewart family and later restored by the Morgan family. Its granite walls, gables, ballroom, gardens, and imported fittings make it feel much closer to a Scottish country house than a typical Australian homestead.
Check opening times before going, as tours and access can vary. It is most rewarding if you enjoy historic interiors, family stories, and the contrast between Bathurst's mining-era ambition and the quieter farming country around it.
