Mount Panorama

Public-road racing circuit and lookout that defines Bathurst's motor-sport identity.

Mount Panorama is the reason many Australians know Bathurst at all. The 6.2 km circuit is a public road when races are not running, climbing steeply above town before dropping through a sequence of corners familiar to anyone who follows the Bathurst 1000.

Drive it slowly and legally: the speed limit is enforced, and local traffic uses the road. Even without racing, the mountain is worth the loop for the view over Bathurst and the odd feeling of passing normal driveways on one of the country's most famous circuits.
