The Cobar Sound Chapel is a small but unusual reason to pause in town: a permanent sound installation by composer Georges Lentz, made with architect Glenn Murcutt. It is an intimate space of music, light, architecture, and desert stillness rather than a conventional gallery.
Access is controlled, so check booking and key arrangements with the visitor centre before building a day around it. If you can get in, it gives Cobar a contemporary cultural stop that sits oddly and beautifully beside the mining story.
