Coffs Harbour Butterfly House is a compact, weatherproof change from beaches and headlands. Inside the warm enclosure, butterflies move through planted tropical greenery, often close enough that children and patient photographers get more out of it than they expect.
It is not one of the coast's essential sights, but it is a useful stop on a wet day or when travelling with younger children who need something slower and more hands-on. Allow a short visit rather than building a whole afternoon around it.
