The Gulgong Gold Experience marks the Red Hill area where gold discoveries sparked the town's 1870s rush. Displays of mining equipment and access to the old mine area make it a useful companion to the town museums.
It is less polished than the Holtermann or Lawson material, but it puts the whole streetscape back on its original footing: people came here first because there was gold in the ground.
