Gulgong Pioneers Museum is the town's big, sprawling local-history museum, spread across a broad site with relocated buildings, mining gear, horse-drawn vehicles, printing equipment, textiles, photographs, and domestic objects. It is the kind of country museum where the quantity becomes part of the charm.
Give it time. A rushed visit misses the point, because the museum works by accumulation: one object after another building a picture of goldfields life and rural work.
