Henry Lawson Centre

Literary museum devoted to Henry Lawson, who spent part of his childhood in Gulgong.

Henry Lawson lived around Gulgong as a child while his father chased gold, and the district fed some of the bush settings and hard-country voices in his writing. The Henry Lawson Centre is devoted to his life and work, with photographs, prints, paintings, and memorabilia.

It is a specialist stop, but a good one. Travellers who know Lawson will want it; travellers who do not may come away with a sharper sense of why this part of inland New South Wales mattered to Australian writing.
