Lake Jindabyne is the town's foreground and its best reason to slow down. It was created by the Snowy Mountains Scheme, and the modern town looks across the water to the high country.
The foreshore path is good for an easy walk, especially early or late in the day. In warm weather the lake opens up for kayaking, swimming, sailing, and fishing, with the mountains doing most of the scenic work.
