Kiama Blowhole is the town's calling card, a sea-cliff opening that can send spray high into the air when the swell and wind line up. It is unpredictable, which is part of the fun: one minute everyone is staring at a quiet hole in the rock, the next there is a boom, a plume, and a crowd of wet phones.
The lighthouse above it was built in 1887 and gives Blowhole Point its postcard look. Even when the blowhole is not working hard, the point is worth visiting for harbour views, seabirds, and the easy walk back into town.
