Old Kinchega Homestead is a ruin rather than a restored house, and that suits the place. The remaining walls and scattered traces sit in open country, making the old station feel exposed to heat, dust, flood, and distance.
It is a useful counterpoint to the woolshed. One shows the work; the other shows the domestic centre that tried to make a home out here.
