The PS Providence Historic Site marks a harder chapter in the Darling River's paddle-steamer age. Riverboats once made Menindee part of a transport system that moved wool, stores, and people through country where roads were slow or unreliable.
There is not a grand monument here, so read the site notes and take in the river setting. It works best as one stop in Kinchega rather than as a destination on its own.
