The Entrance Ocean Pools

Cut into the rocky headland south of the main beach, The Entrance Ocean Pools are a heritage-listed swimming facility that make a fine alternative to the open surf. The pools are filled and flushed by the ocean at high tide, giving you salt water without the waves — a practical choice for families with young children or anyone who wants a swim without negotiating the break.

The setting is pretty: sandstone rocks and the open Pacific on one side, the sandy beach on the other. You can walk here from the town centre in about fifteen minutes along the foreshore path.

A story
The ocean pools at The Entrance were built in the 1930s as part of a Depression-era public works program. They are heritage-listed — not just for their age, but for the concrete Art Deco enclosure that frames them, which remains one of the better-preserved examples of its type on the Central Coast.
