Thredbo's lifts are not just ski infrastructure. In the warmer months, Merritts Gondola and the Kosciuszko Express chairlift carry walkers, sightseers and mountain bikers up from the village to the higher slopes.
The chairlift is the usual start for the Kosciuszko Walk, while the gondola gives an easier scenic ride to the Cruiser area. Even if you are not hiking, the lift ride is worth doing for the sudden shift from village roofs to alpine views.
