Dharug National Park

Rugged sandstone park above the Hawkesbury, with bushwalking, mountain biking, and convict-road remains.

Dharug National Park rises just beyond the ferry crossings, protecting dry eucalypt forest, sandstone ridges, and sections of the Old Great North Road. It gives Wisemans Ferry its best day-walk country and keeps the village from feeling like just another riverside stop.

The park is hot, dry, and surprisingly rough once you leave the car parks. Treat short walks seriously in summer, and check NSW National Parks alerts before setting out.
