Wollongong Art Gallery

Address Crown Street, Wollongong NSW 2500

The Wollongong Art Gallery is one of Australia's larger regional galleries, with a strong permanent collection of Australian, Aboriginal, and Asian art and a programme of visiting exhibitions that keeps the rooms fresh. The building is a solid 1970s civic structure on Crown Street, close to the city centre.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collection is particularly strong, with works representing several regional traditions. The Asian art holdings reflect the significant Asian community in the Illawarra, especially the Chinese and Indian populations connected to the university. Admission to the permanent collection is free.
