Bicentennial Boardwalk

Foreshore boardwalk from the Lagoon to Cannonvale Beach

The Bicentennial Boardwalk runs along the foreshore from the western end of the Lagoon all the way around to Cannonvale, a flat, easy three-kilometre walk that takes about 45 minutes one way. It passes the Abel Point Marina at its midpoint, with cafés and bars to break up the trip.

The walk is the obvious sunset stroll — you face the open bay and the silhouettes of the islands. Fruit bats stream out of the mangroves overhead as the light goes, and beach-stone benches along the way make good picnic spots. The Cannonvale end is quieter, with a small sandy beach where locals swim in stinger season.
