Karumba Point

Karumba Point is the Gulf-facing end of town and the place everyone drifts toward near sunset. The beach is not a classic swimming beach, and crocodile caution is part of life here, but the view over the Gulf of Carpentaria is broad, flat, and memorable.

Bring fish and chips or settle in at the tavern and watch the colour change. On a clear evening the sun drops straight into the water, which is rare enough on Australia's east and north coasts to feel like a small event.
